I have a beautiful Marantz 2215B to sell. It was built in March of 1976, a little over 41 years ago. It is in excellent condition with just a few very light marks on the top edge of the face plate and a tiny mark above the '22' in 2215B. There is a tiny scratch on the volume knob. These minor defects are not noticeable from a few feet away. The rear panel is almost perfect, the jacks and outlets are in great shape. The speaker and antenna terminals are all present with no broken plastic pieces, even the AM loopstick antenna is intact.
This would be perfect in a bedroom setting or in a larger room if it was paired with highly efficient speakers.
The 2215B was completely rebuilt by me to the same standards I follow for all my restorations.
Every surface was cleaned, all glue was removed from the circuit boards.
Every switch, control, plug or termination was cleaned, treated and lubed.
All the jacks were cleaned, polished and treated.
The tuning mechanism was cleaned and lubed.
New vellum was installed behind the meter and dial. All incandecent lamps were replaced with cool running, long life LEDs, snap-in fuse types for the meter and dial, bi-pin types for the stereo and dial pointer. The lamp housing was repaired.
The suppressor network was replaced with a modern AC rated type.
All 55 or so electrolytic capacitors were replaced with high quality 105° C rated parts. Of these, about 15 were replaced with film types for best sound quality and stability, there are no electrolytic types in the audio signal path except for two boost caps and the output coupling cap in each power amp, these must remain electrolytic types as film types won't physically fit.
The output coupling and main filter capacitors were replaced with high quality 105° C rated parts.
The underrated power supply regulator was replaced with a more robust part.
The AM and FM tuners were aligned as was the FM stereo decoder. The power amp bias was adjusted and the DC balance was optimized.
I performed a comprehensive performance test , it meets or exceeds the manufacturer's specifications.
I have been playing it for several days and everything operates as it should and the receiver looks stunning and sounds fantastic!
The price is $750 (plus shipping) with my usual 90 day warranty.
